NWMNP presents an Photography Opportunity at Rasmuson Wildlife Center

This is a truly unique opportunity.  NWMNP is sponsoring a workshop June 9-11, 2017, featuring Chuck Haney, at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Wildlife Center located on the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer, MT.  The ranch sits along the Rocky Mountain Front and is owned by the Boone and Crockett Club. The Rasmuson Wildlife Conversation Center is a modern building and facilities which include a large meeting room that seats up to 60, commercial kitchen, and several dorm style rooms with bunk beds as well as bathrooms and showers.  To see more information about where we will be staying, click on the link below.  The Ranch covers approximately 6000 acres and abuts the Front. RWCC_Flier-1 Photographic opportunities include landscapes, wildflowers and wildlife.  Access includes the entire ranch, subject to some limitations due to the fact that it is a working cattle ranch.  Wildlife can include elk, deer, grizzly bears, coyotes, fox, as well as various birds.  This is a truly unique opportunity to use this resource and became available to NWMNP when another group cancelled for these dates. We will be spending the nights of the 9th and 10th at the Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center.  Sleeping accommodations are rooms with bunk beds and require each person to provide their own sleeping bag/bedding.  It costs $45/night/person.  For an estimated cost of $20/person, dinners on the 9th and 10th, and a brunch on the 10th and 11 will be included.  It is expected that all will pitch in for the cooking, set up, and clean up.  Menu is yet to be determined but most likely will be pre-made meals available from Costco for dinners and traditional breakfast/brunch meals of eggs, bacon, hash browns or quiche.  Suggestions are welcome. There is a requirement of a minimum of five (5) participants for the workshop and a maximum of ten (10) at a cost of $150 per person for NWMNP dues paying members, or $175 for non-members.  In addition, we must pay a $200 facility use fee, which will be divided equally by those in attendance.  The final price should be about $280-290 per person ($150 workshop, $90 lodging, approximately $20 food, and $20-40 facility cost). Arrival at the Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center should be by 5 PM Friday, June 9.  It is anticipated we will scout out sites and photograph in the evening.  Dinner will be early as sunset will be late.  The mornings of the 10th and 11th will be early starts, returning to eat brunch late morning.  Dinner on the 10th will also be early. Chuck Haney presentations will be in he field on Friday evening and Saturday morning, and at the Rasmuson Center on Saturday afternoon.  Included in the afternoon presentation would be a critique of a limited number of images for each participant. This is certainly an outstanding photographic opportunity.  Because of the limitation on group size, and because the deposit required is based upon the number of participants, it is imperative that those interested respond ASAP to nancychalmers@yahoo.com. Please send any questions to this link as well.
