Meetup — Milky Way II at Logan Pass

July 22, 2017 @ 9:30 pm - 11:00 pm

This event will be the 2nd annual due to the popularity of last years event and the request I had to reschedule one for this year. Golden Hour starts at 8:38pm The waxing Moonset is at 8:50pm and Sunset is at 9:25pm. Civil end is 10:04pm I'm planning on arriving early at Logan Pass to take advantage of these times prior to the Milky Way Event. Please feel free to join me. We will meet near the flag poles just before you go up the steps to the Logan Pass Lodge. Before I would like to gather and talk about some of the camera settings etc. for those who have not yet photographed the Milky Way. Also we want to pre-focus your lens to infinity. Must have additional equipment list: - Tripod, without it you photos won't turn out. - Shutter Release or Built-in Self Timer, this will help reduce any camera wiggle. Other recommended equipment: - Weather appropriate clothing, as the sun sets the temp will be dropping and you want to be comfortable. - Head lamp of flash light for walking back down to the parking lot. - Folding chair, we may be there for a while and you might want to give your feet a rest. - Wide angle lens, the wider angle your lens the longer you can open the shutter without getting star trails. Also the faster the lens the better. It can be done with f3.5 or 5.6 but is much better with 2.8 or faster. Now lets just hope for clear sky, on this night the clouds are not our friends.
